The Milliman - Tampa Individual Life & Health Team is a practice within Milliman, Inc., one of the largest actuarial consulting firms in the world. Our team was established in 1998 and has since expanded into a broad consulting group which focuses on life and health products such as accident, critical illness, cancer, hospital indemnity, term life, universal life, and whole life. We also focus on long term care (LTC), combination product, continuing care retirement communities (CCRC), and Medicare supplement products. We provide a wide range of services including strategic, actuarial, compliance and market research consulting.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will work with an engaged, innovative, and technically superior team to bring product solutions, analysis, and insight to our clients in the following areas:

  • Life and long-term care (and hybrid life + LTC) product development and pricing;
  • Life and annuity insurance company valuation;
  • CCRC actuarial studies and population projections;
  • Mergers & acquisitions;
  • Reinsurance; and
  • Lifetime value and ASC 606 projects.

Your typical work will include:

  • Insurance liability modeling;
  • Pricing and product development;
  • CCRC actuarial studies and population projections;
  • Experience analysis and assumption development; and
  • Managing projects through completion within an expected budget.

You will be expected to develop strong and positive client relationships through project management.

What We Are Looking For

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
  • FSA designation
  • Eight or more years of actuarial experience, including meaningful experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Long-term care insurance
    • Life insurance
    • Fixed or variable annuities
    • Continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs)
    • Structured settlements
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, or R
  • Strong understanding of insurance regulations
  • Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable way

Personal Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work both independently and in team environments
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is key
  • Entrepreneurial spirit

The Team

The Tampa-based life and long-term care insurance and continuing care retirement community (CCRC) practice serves a variety of insurance, CCRC, and other clients focused on products that provide financial wellbeing, health, and security during retirement.

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is July 1, 2024.

This role is based out of the Milliman office in Tampa, Florida, but candidates hired into this role may work remotely anywhere in the US.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $231,000, depending on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
